Julie Vos necklace Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Today's look features an "oldie but goodie" dress that's been in rotation for a couple of years now. I picked it up on the Urban Outfitters sale rack for about $7 and have since worn it to pieces. It's one of those fall-back dresses that I grab anytime "I have nothing to wear", and it's especially key on the hottest days. Worn with flats (or sandals or booties) during the day with a blazer, it's perfect for looking pulled together without overheating. Once the sun goes down, switch to strappy heels and a classic bag for an easy dinner or night out look. Hope everyone is having a great week! P.S. - Want suggestions for similar dresses? Forever 21 blouse (on sale!); Blazer via Nasty Gal (also love the black version); Forever 21 clutch (love this one); heels (c/o) Lulu's Phew, this long weekend was really one for the books. We celebrated the Fourth of July with family, friends, a margarita or two, and way too much BBQ. There's really no prouder time to be an American, and we got to chat with a few Australian visitors about how amazed they were at everyone's enthusiasm for the day. We spent Saturday recovering by a pool, and yesterday we roamed around Laguna Beach for the day doing a little shopping and sightseeing. I picked up these floral shorts at a tourist-y stop for about $12, and they are so me for summer. I decided to do a little day-to-night styling with them and could pretty much live in these looks. A breezy blouse works for both, and a lightweight blazer is the perfect topper for nighttime. Switch from sandals to heels, and voila! Hope everyone had an amazing 4th and relaxing weekend! xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Forever 21 shorts (similar); Aqua sweatshirt; Just Fab sandals; Tory Burch bag; Ray-Ban sunglasses; C.Wonder cuff In today's final look with this Aqua printed sweatshirt (see the other looks here and here), I'm pairing it with my favorite faux leather shorts and the gladiator sandals that have become my summer go-to. It's such an easy summer look, and a bold handbag adds a needed pop of color. Hope everyone had a great weekend and an amazing first day of summer! xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Contrary to every prior time in my life, these days I'm really loving a matching set. I picked up this skirt to wear with a floral top back in April and was thrilled to find the matching top recently on the sale rack at Bloomingdale's. Simple sandals and bold accessories finished off the look. This top is such an easy outfit-maker, so I've decided to style it two more ways coming up on the blog. Stay tuned! xoxo Evleo leggings (c/o); Urban Outfitters plaid; Everlane sweatshirt (c/o); Zara heels; Gorjana wristlet (similar); Miriam Merenfeld neckace (c/o); Ray-Ban sunglasses; Bracelets: Michael Kors, C. Wonder, Gorjana So today I'm taking this Everlane sweatshirt for one more spin because third time's a charm, right? After pairing it with dressed-up sweatpants last week and a leather skirt and boots earlier this week, I figured I'd take it easy today with a slouchy plaid and coated leggings. (The leggings are a new discovery from Evleo, and if you're into leggings, they're a name you should know.) Heels and stacked gold jewelry help pull the look together a bit. I'm still rounding up warm necessities for this weekend's trip to New York, and the forecast is just frightening to me. Any and all packing/dressing suggestions for the frigid cold are welcome!
xoxo P.S. - There's only a couple days left in this WWD Magic blogger contest, and I'd really appreciate your vote! Everlane sweatshirt (c/o); H&M jacket; ASTR skirt; Vera Wang boots via Marshall's; Case-Mate crossbody; BCBG studded cuff; Kendra Phillip necklace (c/o); Calvin Klein sunglasses; NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Majella Since posting this look last week, I've pretty much been wearing the crap out of this cozy little sweatshirt from Everlane. Comfy enough to wear to bed (but far too cute to do so), it's as versatile as a favorite tee, so I figured I'd show two more ways to wear it this week. Today's look combines the easy top with a bold blue leather skirt, leather boots, and a fun, colorblocked crossbody for a day-to-night feel. A biker-style jacket adds the final touch, and worn over the shoulders, it's perfect for this week's 75-degree weather. Hope everyone had a great weekend! xoxo P.S. - Please vote for me in the WWDMagic Blogger contest - you can vote once a day, and it only takes a second! Wayf pants (Sold out, but also love these); Forever 21 blouse; Everlane sweatshirt (c/o); Zara heels and necklace; Nine West bag; Calvin Klein sunglasses; Rings: Vanessa Mooney and Wantable (c/o); Bracelets: Forever 21 and OK1984; Caravelle by Bulova watch Karl Lagerfeld once said, "Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.” Now I'm not one to argue with the master (and it's one of my favorite quotes), but sometimes a girl just needs a little breathing room. Lucky for me, my oh-so-favorite track pant silhouette is now available in every dressed up fabric out there, from silk to velvet to leather, and I love 'em all. Pair these comfy bottoms with heels to feel like less of a frump, and go for a layered look up top. I added an easy little blouse, a chic little sweatshirt (gasp!), and a few favorite silver jewels. (By the way, if you're looking for some of the best-cut basics around, check out Everlane's incredibly affordable selection.) And on another note, I'm in the running for yet another contest, and I'd really love your vote. The top 8 bloggers with the most votes will win a trip to Vegas to blog at WWD Magic, and I'd be thrilled to go. Voting only takes a second, and you can vote from your Facebook account once a day until January 24th. Thanks so much in advance, and hope everyone is having a great week! xoxo Shop It: Track Pants Max Studio striped tee; Paige Denim plaid (c/o); American Apparel leggings; World Footwear Group boots (c/o) VAULT; Gorjana necklace; Bracelets:C.Wonder and Gorjana; Henri Bendel aviators In today's third and final installment of "These Boots Go With Anything", I'm wearing the $50 wonder boots with my typical fall Sunday morning duds. (See the other looks here and here.) These pictures were actually taken this past Sunday when we woke up pretty early and decided to walk to breakfast. (I'm not a morning person. Like, not even close. So on the weekends, if I wake up early enough to beat the breakfast crowds, we usually take advantage.) Black pants or leggings tucked into black over-the-knee boots create the illusion of long legs, and a cozy plaid was just made for Sunday mornings. Whether slipped over jeans or leggings or worn with a mini dress, these boots from VAULT are such an easy and versatile addition to your winter wardrobe, and I'm pretty sure I'll be once again wearing them all weekend if the weather cooperates. (Over-the-knee boots in 80 degree weather is really not advisable.) I'm excited for a little early birthday brunch on Sunday and hope everyone has an amazing weekend! xoxo P.S. - Don't forget to check out the VAULT blog! Express dress (old); H&M jacket; Quinn NYC scarf (c/o); World Footwear Boots (c/o) VAULT; Urban Outfitters socks; Calvin Klein sunglasses; BCBG studded bracelet; Avon lipstick in Rich Ruby In today's second look with these over-the-knee boots, I wanted to go for something a bit more fun. (Check out the first look here.) We had a birthday dinner to attend last night, so I paired them with a favorite little black sweatshirt dress and a moto-style jacket. Anytime I wear over-the-knee boots with a dress, I always like to add higher socks in the mix as well. I don't know why, I just do. I think maybe it softens the look and makes me feel a little less like I got dressed in Rihanna's closet. (Although I definitely wouldn't mind stealing a few looks from that closet.) A bold clutch, ultra-soft scarf, and a couple of studded bangles finished off the look. (And signature aviators, of course.) Hope everyone is having a great week, and stay tuned for a third look with these awesome boots from VAULT. xoxo P.S. - Don't forget to also check out the VAULT blog! Black Orchid jeans (c/o) VAULT; Equipment blouse; Margaret O'Leary sweater (c/o); World Footwear Group boots (c/o) VAULT; Tory Burch bag; C.Wonder bracelet A few years ago while shopping for a Halloween costume, I came across a reasonable pair of over-the-knee boots and scooped them up for my costume thinking I'd probably never wear them again. "Over-the-knee boots, so scandalous!" is pretty much what I was thinking. (Give me a break. I was new to L.A. and was never really into that shock factor when it came to my wardrobe.) A few weeks after that Halloween, I decided to try out the boots over a pair of skinny jeans and was immediately hooked. I couldn't believe how easy they were to throw on over jeans and leggings and how surprisingly non-scandalous they were when worn with the right sweater dresses. I wore them until the soles were gone and had to toss them out when their solelessness (totally a word) caused a serious slip-and-bust-my-butt moment on the way to class one rainy day. Fast forward to Fall 2013, and over-the-knee boots are EVERYWHERE. Seriously. And I've been on the hunt now for months. Every pair that I've found are either annoyingly pricey or have some sort of hardware that just doesn't sit well with me. When VAULT invited me to choose a couple of things from their site this month, these boots were a no-brainer. They're simple and fit well, and the dip in the back means they won't get all bent out of shape every time you sit down for more than five minutes. The best part? The price. (Fifty bucks, people. Fifty bucks.) Although I could probably wear these about 500 different ways, I'm narrowing it down and showing three fool-proof outfits with over-the-knee boots this week. For today's look, there's really nothing easier than throwing them over a pair of skinny jeans, but I love the contrast of pairing them with grey skinnies. And these grey skinnies just so happen to be a new favorite pair. I've had a thing for Black Orchid denim ever since the first pair I tried a few years ago. Their jeggings are the most comfortable you'll ever own, and I feel like the mid-rise fit is kind of made for my body. (I'm not 18 anymore, so the low-rise thing that a lot of brands do just doesn't work for me.) For premium denim, the price is also pretty hard to beat. (I could go on, but seriously, just try them.) I paired the bottom half with a yummy silk blouse and cozy-to-the-max sweater and finished things off with a bold handbag. Stay tuned this week for two more ways to wear these boots, and don't forget to check out the VAULT blog for the ramblings of me and a couple of other fabulous bloggers. Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! xoxo Disclosure: This post is sponsored by VAULT, but all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make My Style Diaries possible.
